Key activities highlight Women’s Month celebration

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Annabel T. Roque bared various activities that have been lined up in the observance of the Provincial Women’s Month celebration during the regular flag raising on March 4, here.

The celebration features key activities that acknowledge the vital contributions of women, embrace everyone, and exclude no one towards the common quest for freedom in all forms of discrimination, providing equal opportunity for all.

It also stresses the importance of a harmonized network towards gender equality.

The PSWDO in partnership with the Pangasinan Public Employment and Services Office will conduct skills and livelihood training for the grassroots women, solo parents, and women OFWs; medical check-ups for mothers in collaboration with the Provincial Health Office; advocacy campaigns on laws on women and children; and seminar on Gender and Development (GAD) planning and budgeting among others.

Meanwhile, the PSWDO along with the learning service providers of DSWD Field Office I and Central Office will likewise conduct Camp Management and Camp Coordination Training with DRRM Council and representatives of each district from March 4 to 8.

The staff of the Reformation Center in Burgos will also conduct disaster preparedness programs aimed at providing safe spaces for women and children at the evacuation centers.

The PSWDO in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will conduct the Provincial IT Challenge for youth with disabilities on March 6.

The undertaking is through the leadership and initiatives of Gov Ramon V. Guico III, Vice Governor Mark Ronald DG Lambino and BM Chinky Tababa, Committee Chair on Women, Children, PWDs, Elderly, Family and Social Welfare along with the provincial gender focal point system of the different implementing departments on Gender and Development (GAD) and the inter-agency committees on women and children.

‘Sana po patuloy nating suportahan ang programa on gender mainstreaming  at higit po sa lahat, patuloy po nating pangalagaan at protektahan ang kapakanan at igalang ang karapatan at kakayahan  ng bawat kababaihan,’ PSWDO Roque said.
