DILG USec Diño commends Pangasinan’s support to war on drugs

 

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Local Government Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin B. Diño commended the efforts of the provincial government of Pangasinan in support of the national government’s campaign against illegal drugs.

Gracing the provincial Anti-Crime and Peace & Order Forum on December 3 held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Gymnasium, USec. Diño extolled Governor Amado I. Espino, III for putting up a rehabilitation center in Pangasinan.

He said that this meaningful endeavor does not only enable drug victims restart their lives, but most importantly, strengthen the drive of the national government against illegal drugs with the strong support of the members of Philippine National Police (PNP).

Stating the importance of Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC), the undersecretary reiterated the roles of barangay officials as “frontliners” in serving barangayfolks and as “first line of defense” in sustaining the peace and order in their communities.

As such, USec. Diño challenged the barangay officials to take part in the shared mission and vision of the national and local leaders and set a legacy that younger generations may enjoy a peaceful and progressive Pangasinan.

“All hardworking barangay officials will be recognized,” USec. Diño added emphasizing that irresponsible officials will be penalized if found guilty of corruption in the forms of ghost projects and delivery, ghost personnel and the like.

Owing to the firm support of the police force to the national government, especially DILG’s undertakings, USec. Diño commended the Pangasinan PNP led by PSSupt. Wilson Joseph Lopez for the declining number of reported crimes in the province.

Meanwhile, Governor Espino thanked all barangay captains and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairpersons for the strong partnership between the provincial government and the barangays.

The provincial chief executive said that the participation of Barangay and SK officials affirm their support for the vision and mission of the provincial government.

As such, Governor Espino exhorted all participants to inspire all their colleagues to promote the welfare and interest of their constituents.

PSSupt. Lopez, on the other hand, bared that among the 1,364 barangays, only 254 remained uncleared from illegal drugs and that the police force and the provincial government are working round the clock to make these communities drug-cleared.

Also present during the event attended by over 2,000 barangay and SK officials were: DILG Regional Director James Fadrilan, DILG Provincial Director Agnes De Leon and SK Federation President Jerome Vic Espino.
