LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The provincial board headed by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. has approved on its regular session on August 6, Provincial Resolution No. 1738-2018 entitled, “Requesting the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to set up a satellite office in the province of Pangasinan near the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) at Robinsons Place in Calasiao.”

Authored by Sangguniang Member Clemente Arboleda, Jr., the resolution was crafted upon the request of Provincial Employment Services Officer Alex F. Ferrer who also chairs the Pangasinan Migration and Development Council.

As such, the resolution partly stated that “the setting-up of POEA satellite office in the province is of paramount importance to the people of Pangasinan for the purpose of catering services to the OFWs/overseas job applicants particularly in securing an Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) which is currently being processed in La Union, Pampanga and Manila.”

“Thousands of Pangasinenses trooping to the POEA regional and national offices will save precious time, effort and money as the location of POEA satellite office will be nearer them,” the resolution noted as it further added that “the proposed satellite office in Pangasinan can also reach out and serve neighboring towns of Tarlac and Nueva Ecija, among others.”

Copies of said resolution will be forwarded to POEA Administrator Bernard P. Olalia and Mr. Ferdinand Jose E. Merrera, Head, Regional Center for Luzon, for their information and guidance. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
