SP hails Urbiztondo Vice Mayor Marilyn Sanglay-Sison for winning the Pinay Power Summit

Lingayen, Pangasinan — The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) doffed its hat to Urbiztondo Vice Mayor Marilyn Sanglay-Sison for winning the Pinay Power Summit award given by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines.

The SP, in its regular session held on July 30, passed Provincial Resolution No. 443-2018 to commend the feat of Sison.

Sison, who serves as the Provincial Chairperson of the Local Councils of Women (LCW) Pangasinan, was among the five Pinay Power Summit awardees in the country.

Sison received the award during the JCI – Area One 3rd Council Meeting held on July 21 in Tarlac City.

“The award garnered by Vice Mayor Sison is a testament of her strong commitment in championing the rights and causes of women and other vulnerable sectors,” the provincial resolution reads.

Pinay Power, a flagship advocacy of the JCI Philippines, coincides with the development thrust of the provincial government on “women economic empowerment,” which is also promoted by the LCW Pangasinan.

Under the leadership of Sison, the LCW Pangasinan adopted an advocacy to help the marginalized sector, particularly the women from Indigenous Peoples communities and coastal areas.

In partnership with the provincial government of Pangasinan thru the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, and non-government organization partnerJCI Lingayen Liberation II, the LCW Pangasinan launched a series of skills and products enhancement training.

The LCW Pangasinan is also the organizer of Gayak Pangasinan “Women Leaders for a Cause,” a benefit social event which is the largest gathering of women leaders in the province.
