LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Provincial Government of Pangasinan has donated P1.5 million fund support to the Pangasinan Integrated Muslim Assembly, Inc. for the construction of a public Muslim cemetery.

Leading the brief ceremony was Governor Amado I. Espino, III, along with some department heads led by Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, at the Urduja House on August 1.

“Tanggapin niyo po itong munting suporta mula sa provincial government,” Governor Espino said as he noted that this advocates the rapport and partnership of the provincial government with Muslim communities.

The provincial chief executive also pledged to sustain social amenities program such as the financial assistance to build a Muslim burial ground which further supports the mandate of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Act of 2009 which ensures the right and well-being of the Muslim Filipinos.

The Muslim community was led by Guialoson K. Macmod who sincerely thanked the provincial government for the steadfast support that the association has been receiving since the stint of former governor and now fifth district representative Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr.

“Nagpapasalamat kami kay Congressman dahil n’ung siya pa ay governor ay pinangako na niya ito at tinupad naman ni Gov. Pogi,” said Macmod.

Stating that the burial site in Alaminos City is close to being fully occupied, Macmod stated that this project will address the lack of burial grounds for Muslims in the province.

The solemn resting place will be built in a 2.5-hectare lot in Barangay Aurollo II in Balungao.  /Shiella Mae C. De Guzman
