LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, who represented Governor Amado I. Espino III, led the inauguration of the new 30-bed capacity pediatric ward building located at the Lingayen District Hospital (LDH) together with Dr. Athena Merrera on August 8.

The new facility, according to the LDH chief, is funded by the Department of Health (DOH) under its Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) worth P5M as she added that there is a plan for the pediatric ward to have its second storey which will be constructed in the coming months to accommodate more patients.

The pediatric ward is equipped with two isolation rooms that are intended for patients with highly infectious diseases.

Speaking on behalf of Gov. Espino, Atty. Camba said the provincial government is continuously undertaking programs and projects that are geared towards providing quality health care services to the sick and financially-challenged Pangasinenses.

He disclosed that health reform has been among the top priorities of the Espino administration that was started by then governor and now 5th district representative Amado T. Espino, Jr. which is now being continued by his son, Gov. Amado “Pogi” Espino III.

Gaya po ng sinasabi madalas sabihin ng dating gobernador na ang pinaka-mahirap na kalagayan ay ‘kung mahirap ka na nga at may sakit ka pa,’ according to Atty. Camba who pointed out that the present administration led by Gov. Pogi sees to it that quality health care is being provided to all sick and less-privilege provincemates.

Likewise, the provincial administrator said that the project will not end in the blessing or inaugural rites, but more programs are in the offing to upgrade not only the health facilities but also to improve manpower services so as to serve more indigent patients.

It can be recalled that on the same day last year, Gov. Espino officially opened the new two-storey Administrative Out Patient Department building of the same district hospital.

Next in line will be the construction of another two-storey building that will house the radiological department and medical ward.

The blessing of the pediatric ward which coincides with the 26th foundation anniversary of the hospital, was officiated by Rev. Fr. Hernan Caronongan. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
