SP commends DILG Pangasinan


LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The provincial board led by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. has approved Provincial Resolution No. 1670-2018 on July 9 that commends the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Pangasinan Office for extending invaluable technical assistance to the province of Pangasinan, its cities and municipalities during the conduct of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) assessment last year.

It was noted in the resolution which was authored by all members of the board that the unwavering support of the DILG provincial office has gone a long way as 33 local government units (LGUs) of the province bagged the coveted 2017 SGLG.

As a fact, 81 provinces, 45 cities and 1,489 municipalities of the Philippines were assessed along different core and essential areas. Hence, Pangasinan has the highest number of SGLG passers nationwide.

“For 2017, the DILG raised the overall assessment criteria from ‘3+1’ into ‘4+1’ with peace and order now a core area along with financial administration, disaster preparedness, and social protection,” the resolution party stated.

Meanwhile, the provincial board likewise approved a separate resolution—Provincial Resolution 1669-2018— that congratulated the DILG-Pangasinan for bagging three regional awards in the Regional Management Committee Conference in Baguio City last May.

The three regional awards given to the DILG Provincial Office headed by Provincial Director Agnes de Leon include the CY 2017 Special Award-Most Outstanding Province; CY 2017 Compliance Award-Best Performing Province; and a Plaque of Recognition for its successful conduct of the Barangay-Based Symposium on Anti-Illegal Drugs and Orientation on MASA MASID Volunteers CY 2017.

As such, the other two awards received by the DILG-Pangasinan pertained to its declaration as the Most Outstanding Provincial Office on Locally-Funded project implementation and as Best Performing Provincial Office in the implementation of different programs, projects and activities as well as compliance to financial and administrative requirements.

Said resolution partly noted that the awards received by the DILG Pangasinan Provincial Office “are manifestations of its tireless efforts and constant focus to have clear and definite results in the affairs of the province.” (Ruby R. Bernardino)
