Governor Amado I. Espino, III expressed his gratitude towards Provincial Health Office (PHO) for providing proper public health care during his Second State of the Province Address on July 2 held at the Capitol Plaza.

 

Gov. Espino mentioned that the I Love Pangasinan Kalusugan Karaban (ILPKK) had so far aided 217, 199 Pangasinenses from 756 clustered barangays. The ILPKK aims to provide quality and comprehensive health services for free directly delivered to different barangays in the province.

 

The Kalusugan Karavan conducts its mobile health clinic three times a week.

 

The ILPKK offers different services such as medical consultations, surgeries, dental services, feeding programs and vaccinations. Along with these services, the ILPKK have forum on pregnancy and birth to mothers and free vaccinations to senior citizens. The Mobile Diagnostic Bus was also launched for the ILPKK providing state-of-the-art facilities such as X-ray, Ultrasound and other diagnostic equipment to be used by Pangasinenses around the province.

 

With the help of the doctors Philippines Obstetrics and gynecological Society (POGS), free pre-natal check-ups, ultrasound and laboratory examinations were also provided.

 

Gov. Espino mentioned that through the help of PHO, Department of Health (DOH), and Rural health units (RHUs), almost 100% of all pregnant women in the province was able to give birth at the hospitals and birthing facilities. Moreover, it was reported that the 5.44 death per 1,000 live birth in 2016 was reduced to 4.4 deaths per 1000 live births in 2017.

 

PHO reported that the province had an average of eight malaria cases each year from 2006-2011. However, there are no recorded cases of the said disease for the past five years. Because of this service, Pangasinan has reaped the title as a Malaria-Fee Province.

 

Gov. Espino stated that because of the Pangasinan’s outstanding public health service, the DOH awarded the Champion Province for the Best LGU Implementer in 2017 to the province.

 

The governor stressed his will to provide a better Pangasinan not only for this generations but also for the province’s next generations.

 

Gov. Espino believes that providing high quality public health service will make Pangasinan the “Home of the Healthiest Filipinos.”
