Gov. Espino discusses manpower upgrade of all 14 hospitals with the doctors

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—Governor Amado I. Espino III urged all chiefs of hospitals to work hand-in-hand with the provincial government in coming up with a concrete plan for manpower development in all 14 government hospitals.

This developed as a consultative meeting/workshop with chiefs of hospitals along with their administrative officers, accountants and bookkeepers was held on January 4 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center (PTDC).

In as much as upgrading of all hospitals, the governor noted that the provincial government has done its share in prioritizing infrastructure development of the various health facilities for the past years adding that the focus this year should now be concentrated on improving the manpower aspect.

With the upgrading and facelifting of all government hospitals in terms of infrastructure, the health facilities are now at par with the private hospitals according to Gov. Espino, even as he stressed that improvement of manpower and infrastructure must go side-by-side.

As such, Gov. Espino disclosed that with the influx of patients to the government hospitals which are now called “hospitals of choice,” one hospital has even operated on a ratio of 1 nurse to 105 patients.

Stressing the scenario, the provincial chief executive vowed to institute reforms which will start with the plan to be prepared by 14 hospitals to include the plans and actions of each facility.

In doing this, Gov. Espino said he is determined to start the year 2018 right.

The agenda for the consultative meeting/workshop are as follows: 1) hospital human resource; 2) hospital service vehicle; 3) hospital new classification; 4) financial matters among others.

Also present during the consultation-workshop are Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba, Provincial Accountant Arturo Soriano, Provincial Budget Officer Hilaria J. Claveria, Provincial Legal Officer Geraldine U. Baniqued, and Human Resources Management and Development Officer Janette C. Asis.
