LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—The provincial government through the Office of the Provincial Engineer has acquired one unit of amphibious excavator amounting to P14.5 million.


The blessing of the equipment, officiated by Rev. Fr. Hernan Caronongan was led by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. who was joined by Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Provincial Administrator Nimrod S. Camba and different chief of offices on October 2 at the Motorpool grounds.


As disclosed by Provincial Engineer Antonietta Delos Santos, the state-of-the art equipment which is the first in the province, can walk or work in water because the chassis crawler floats on sealed pontoons.


The following are the specifications of the newly-acquired equipment: it is equipped with load sensing hydraulic system with 110 liters per minute total capacity hydraulic circuit. With water cooled 4-cylinder turbo Diesel engine—38 horsepower up to 2400g/min. Group tracked pontoons built in high strength galvanized steel with length of 4600 mm, height of 800 mm and weight of 2200 kgs. It has a total height of 3250 mm and weight of 4200 kilograms.


Infrastructure development is among the priority thrusts of Gov. Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III who repeatedly stressed its importance on several occasions.


Aside from construction, rehabilitation and improvement of roads, bridges, provincial buildings specifically the 14 government hospitals and schoolbuldings as well as public utilities and water resources development all throughout Pangasinan , three notable infrastructure projects undertaken in his term are the provision of Drug Rehabilitation Center in Burgos town and the construction of Pangasinan Training and Development Center, II, an additional venue for conventions or special functions, and Abong na Dayew (Hall of Fame building) which will house the numerous awards and recognitions received by the provincial government over the years.


It can also be recalled that in 2016, the provincial government under the tenure of former governor and now 5thdistrict Congressman Amado T. Espino, Jr. procured 11 sets of new construction equipment that amounted to P130M to speed up various infrastructure projects being implemented in the province. These include mini dump truck, aerial platform, road roller tandem, vibratory roller, bulldozer/crawler/sigma dozer, water truck/forward dropside with crane, hydraulic machine press, wheel excavator, mini asphalt finisher and rotary drilling machine.


Aside from the newly purchased equipment acquired since 2016, there are a total of 140 existing equipment at the engineering office as earlier reported. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
