​LINGAYEN, Pangasinan— Pangasinan Basketball Team trounced Lyceum Northwestern University (LNU) Dukes during a friendly match at LNU Gym on August 16.

 

​Pangasinan Team came prepared and started the match with passion, led by Sarmiento and Ordona, taking an early lead 11-5 with 4 minutes and 45 seconds time left in the first quarter.

 

​Meanwhile, LNU Dukes tried to break the lead with Suratos and Ayao driving the ball, yet, Melendez and Ballesteros from Pangasinan Team broke Dukes’ momentum with their potent 3-point shots which secured their lead, 44-28, at the end of the second quarter.

 

​Pangasinan Team sustained their supremacy, with Melendez and Mamaril setting the score with 21-point advantage against LNU Dukes at the end of the third quarter.

 

​Determined to bag victory, LNU Dukes powered up their defense with Roa taking the lead. The 4th quarter intensified as both teams key players set the game and scored to favor their respective teams.

 

​Pangasinan Team ended the game with a 37-point lead to trounce LNU Dukes’ will to win.

 

​Governor Amado I. Espino, III together with PSDMC Council Coordinator Marlon Domalanta rooted for the Pangasinan Team in the jam-packed venue during the friendship match where Pangasinan Team won at 107-70.

 

​Pangasinan Team first triumphed in the basketball tune up game in a friendship match at University of Luzon (UL) Don Luis Estadio on August 9 where they posted a 14-point lead against UL Golden Tigers.

 

​The team is composed of the best players from various teams that participated in the 1st Governor’s Cup Inter-Town Basketball Tournament held at Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center which started last year and concluded in April this year.

 

​Members of the Pangasinan Team are: Marven JophetMamaril (Lingayen), Mark Melendez (Binmaley), Manny Cristobal Santos (Manaoag), and Conrad  Benedict Aquino (Asingan) – Guards; Roxar Melendez (Binmaley), ReynaldBallesteros (Calasiao),  Elegio Agloro Jr, (Alaminos City) Garnet Asuncion, Ismael Sarmiento (Urdaneta City), and Florence Batalla (Urdaneta City) – Forwards: Christian Paul Cruz (Binmaley), Nico Celino (Alaminos City) Noel Barrozo (Urbiztondo), Jomar Ordona (Manaoag) and Aldrin Serafica(Manaoag) – centers.
