LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – “Be force multipliers in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM),” Governor Amado I. Espino, III said when he addressed over three hundred participants of ABS-CBN’s Red Alert Emergency Expo held at the Capitol Resort Hotel here on July 29.


“Be force multipliers. Kung alam nyo na, ituro nyo na din sa iba… sa ating mga kababayan,” Governor Espino said  as he urged Pangasinense to work hand-in-hand with the provincial government to help level up the DRRM capabilities of communities.


Likewise, Governor Espino appealed support for his flagship program on disaster preparedness, dubbed: “Aktibo at Ligtas na Pamayanan” (Safe and Active Communities), a community-based DRRM capability enhancement program which is supervised by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).


​The provincial chief executive bared the provincial government presented during the kick-off ceremony of the national disaster resilience month in Pangasinan held on July 10 the new set of equipment and vehicles procured by the province which will be utilized to level up the province’s DRRM.


As a host local government unit, Governor Espino expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN for choosing Pangasinan as the first provincial venue of the emergency expo outside Metro Manila.


The ABS-CBN giant broadcasting network was led by its Senior Vice President Ging Reyes who brought along a team of 150 executives and staff to ensure the success of the event.


​Said expo, now on its fourth year, is an educational and experiential learning exposition of ABS-CBN which seeks to empower the listeners and viewers of ‘Red Alert sa DZMM’ and ‘Red Alert Program’ by teaching them survival and emergency response tips and disaster preparedness.


​Sharing the province’s best practices in DRMM, particularly in water search and rescue, were crewmen from the PDRRMO.


​ Other lectures conducted by ABS-CBN include fire safety and fire drill, hostile environment rescue operations, eveready e-balde, mobile earthquake simulator, survival Olympics.


​Some 250 participants were sent by the local government unit of Lingayen, University of Pangasinan – Phinma and STI College – Dagupan.
