LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III led the province in celebration of the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week which is conducted from July 17 to 23.

In the regular flag raising ceremony at the Capitol Plaza on July 17, Gov. Espino thanked the group of philanthropist Ashok Vasandani for their effort in extending help to the differently-abled sector through constant donations of equipment and books to include the 20 units of wheelchairs and 300 copies of books which were turned-over as highlight of the flag raising rites.

With the theme: “Karapatan at Pribilehiyo ng May Kapansanan: Isakatuparan at Ipaglaban,” the culmination of the celebration will be highlighted with various activities to be spearheaded by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on July 25 and 26 with the following activites: 1) Awarding of Winners for the Search for the Most Functional Stimulation Therapeutic Activity Center (STAC); 2) Awarding of assistive devices like pedia wheelchairs and walkers for children with disabiltiy; 3) PWD Summit; 4) Personality Development Training for Women with Disability.

Meanwhile, the PWD summit which will be conducted on July 26 at the Presient Hotel in Lingayen town will be participated in by city/municipal social welfare and development officers, municipal health officers, PWD leaders and STAC staff from different local government units in the province.

Aside from Gov. Pogi, the kick-off ceremony of the 39th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week was attended by some members of the board and various heads of office led by Provincial Administrator Nimrod Camba. (Ruby R. Bernardino)
