LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A top official of the San Roque Power Corporation (SRPC) recently urged Pangasinenses to unite in bannering advocacies for environmental protection.

Addressing the attendees of the Pistay Dayat Program as guest of honor and speaker, SRPC Vice President for Corporate Affairs Tommy Valdez said that despite of the dreadful effects of climate change, the province of Pangasinan is still blessed to have bountiful natural resources, citing the revived Agno river as a testament to a highly-committed environmental watch by the provincial administration.

“I’ve seen many rivers, but I say that the Agno river must be declared as among the cleanest rivers in the country,” Engr. Valdez said said during the program held on May 1 underneath Bugallon bridge right after the highly-anticipated fluvial parade dubbed Banca Parada.

Experiencing the Banca Parada for the first time, the SRPC executive bared that the fluvial parade not only seeks to celebrate the exquisite beauty of artistically-designed bancas, but rather rejoice the bounty of rivers.

Valdez, who recounted the launching in 2009 of the ‘Ilog Ko, Aroen tan Bilayen Ko’ environmental pet project of former governor and now 5th district Representative Amado T. Expressing gratitude for the support of various sectors to the programs of the provincial leadership, the provincial chief executive enjoins Pangasinenses to actively engage on the journey towards making Pangasinan the best place to invest, work, live and raise a family.
