LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Governor Amado I. Espino, III recently lauded the civil registrars from various municipal and city local government units in Northern Luzon who attended the 11th Northern Luzon Alliance (NLA) Workshop on Civil Registration.


Addressing the civil registrars during the NLA event’s opening ceremonies held at the Sison Auditorium on April 19, Governor Espino stressed that the provincial administration maximizes the advent of statistics in all facets of governance, owing much to the effective and efficient civil registration strategies.


Emphasizing the significance of statistics in governance, Governor bared that various development programs launched by the provincial government were sustained in reference to statistical data gathered in localities.


“We are doing our best to serve our province,” said Governor Espino, who pointed out that his administration sustains the legacies of good governance which were nurtured during the nine-year stint of his predecessor, former Governor and now 5th District Representative Amado T. Espino, Jr.


The provincial chief executive likewise expressed gratitude to the National Statistics Authority for supporting the provincial government in all its undertakings, particularly on the annual provincial celebration of the National Statistics Month (NSM).


It can be recalled that under the Espino leadership, the Province of Pangasinan was able to secure two Hall of Fame citations as best NSM Province in Region 1 (2008-2010; and 2014-2016)


The civil registration workshop which bannered the theme: “NLA @ 11: Embracing Change for Enhanced Public Service,” offered lectures on the following; Updates on the Implementation of Civil Registration Laws and Its Implementing Rules and Regulations (RA 9048, RA 10172 and RA 9255); Updates on the Procedures Relevant to Civil Registry Documents as Requirements for Consular Services; and Updates of the Processing of Documents Affected by Court Decrees and Legal Instruments.


Best practices of Northern Luzon – Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) and City/Municipal Civil Registrars Associations were presented along the presentation of leadership and NLA workshop on civil registration citations to the awardees.


Extending all-out support during the civil registrars confab were Deputy National Statistician Estela De Guzman, PSA – Region 1 Director Socrates Ramores and Philippine Association of Civil Registrars President Edwin Ruiz.
