Beauty and wellness have become the essence of the provincial government’s Health Risk Management Program where a Healthy Habit Club was launched.
In celebration of its 1st year anniversary during the whole month of February, the Healthy Habit Club conducted its Family Day activities last February 24 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center here.
The success of the Family Day is a testimony to the effectiveness of the Club’s performance as employees of the provincial government who are the members of the Healthy Habit Club and their families enjoyed a day’s out activity to avail of free relaxation services such as massage and reflexology, hair cut, hair spa, foot spa, manicure and pedicure.
The activities also included a ballroom competition, a cook fest where employees pitted their cooking talents against each other and a food fest where everybody feasted on the recipes rich with health benefits prepared by the contestants.
Alice Felix, an employee at the Provincial Governor’s Office was very happy to have availed of free relaxation services especially salon services where she had her hair beautified by able volunteers from Technical Education and Skills Development Authority as she seldom has the time to indulge in relaxation activities for a fee.
Gina Ranola, a family member of a provincial employee is also very thankful for the opportunity as she made an effort to try every service available as she said this is a very rare chance especially for ordinary people like her.
Everybody was just so happy and eager to avail of the free services, but the one day allotted for the activities seemed not enough to accommodate everyone.
The Family Day and the Fun Run held earlier in the day, were the culmination activities for the month-long celebration of the 1st year anniversary of the Healthy Habit Club this February.
Spearheaded by the Human Resource Management Office and the Provincial Health Office, other activities held previously include a Management Seminar on Outcome-Driven Diabetes held on February 3-4, and the Health and Fitness Day last February 14 which included physical and medical check-up such as blood chemistry, cholesterol, sugar, triglycerides, x-ray, electro- cardiography and dental services.
All of these services were provided to the members and their families for free under the able leadership of Gov. Amado T. Espino who envisions Pangasinan as “home of healthiest Filipinos.”
Janet Asis, chief administrative officer of HRMO was happy to note that the membership of the first official fitness program of the provincial government has drawn more than 100% increase in membership since its launching last year.
“Nakita kasi ng mga empleyado yung iba’t-ibang serbisyo na makukuha sa Healthy Habit Club at yung kagandahan ng mga activities na makakatulong sa kanilang kalusugan, well-being at sa kanila ring itsura,” Asis said.
She said that with the success of the Healthy Habit Club in its initial implementation among the provincial government employees, the province will launch the Pangasinan Wellness program during the 2nd quarter of 2012 between the months of April and June.
Asis said Gov. Espino wants to duplicate the healthy habit program all over the province in coordination with the PHO and other non-government organizations like the Pangasinan Federation of Non-Government Organizations, as they bring the services and activities to various parts of the province to promote the health and wellness of Pangasinenses.
