Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. led the ceremonial log on to the province’s two official websites: pangasinan.gov.ph and pangasinantourism.gov.ph, during the press briefing on the celebration of Tourism Month held September 6 at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) conference hall here.
With the ceremonial launching, the Governor expressed his appreciation to modern technology that led to the creation of vital linkages such as the websites being an effective tool of communication and an important source of information that transcends to the community by simply tapping your computer.
The official website of Pangasinan has been reconstructed by the Provincial Information Office (PIO) with technical support from Pixelhub Creative headed by Mike Fernandez, pangasinan.gov.ph contains relevant information and vivid pictures about the province and its people as well as Pangasinan’s rich cultural heritage, tourist destinations and the dawning of the golden era.
Public Information Officer Orpheus “Butch” M. Velasco said that with the creation of the official website of the province, people will be able to see what the provincial government is doing thus it will purposely serve as a “showroom of accomplishments” on the part of the government that will bridge the government and people in one common ground.
The website contain latest news and events regarding the provincial government, the history of the province, geography, facts and figures, basic information on the province’s cities and municipalities, fiscal management, resolutions and ordinances crafted by the provincial board.
Other important features of the website includes list of officials and directory, photo gallery, feature articles depicting the tourism development program of Pangasinan and travel sketches, as well.
As of press time, the website has over 17,000 visitors since its creation in June. Special section for people to leave their feedbacks is likewise available, that serves as direct communication link to the provincial government.
Pangasinantourism.gov.ph, on the other hand, serves as the closest link of the people to the various tourism development efforts of the province. People will get to know more about Pangasinan in just a few clicks from their computer.
Tourism Division Chief Ma. Luisa Elduayan said that the creation of the official websites will provide basic facts and information needed by tourists, both local and international, regarding the places to go in Pangasinan. “Thru this, we will be able to show the world how lovable Pangasinan is and further answer other people’s querry on why our province must be loved,” the tourism chief added.
It will be recalled that the provincial government has set its sight on promoting its various program thrusts to a higher level of public awareness as it also practices transparency and good governance. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
